David Lynch Foundation has released a new video which captures the story of Melvin Brown, US Army veteran.

As the blog states, an estimated 500,000 of the 2.5 million veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. In this video, which is both heart-breaking at first and heart-warming in the end, Melvin Brown shares his story of trauma serving in the Afghanistan and Iraq war, and how learning Transcendental Meditation (TM) saved him and his family.

Melvin Brown: “In that time period, I saw some gruesome things. I started having nightmares and had no idea it was going to turn into the terrible thing. I was looking for anything that would help me cope. If it gets any worse than what it is right now, I am going to lose it. I’m not going to be able to maintain.”

“I learnt TM on my 48th birthday. I’ve slept through the night every night since, after my first meditation. It was just phenomenal. Within 90 days, I was off the anxiety pills, the anti-depressants, the pain medication, everything I was prescribed to fight the PTSD symptoms. My stress levels reduced.”

“I’m more content than I’ve ever been, more in love with my life, my wife, my kids, my job, my circumstances. Everything is better.”
