The president of the Maharishi University of Management in the USA Dr Bevan Morris visited Fiji to present the success of meditative practices in education.
Dr Morris described to senior Fijian educators how consciousness-based education develops the full brain potential and promotes higher academic performance while increasing creativity, self-confidence and harmonious behaviour.
He cited in more detail the examples of the Maharishi School in Melbourne, Australia and the Maharishi School of Age of Enlightenment in Lancashire, UK.
Dr Morris also talked about the plans of Father Gabriel Mejia, a Catholic priest in Medellin, Colombia, to build a school for 1500 students selected from amongst homeless youth. Practices based on the technique of Trascendental Meditation will be fully integrated into the school’s curriculum.
